New York family of four, eating for one week:
How would you rather spend $200?

Busy NYC families and singles don’t have the time, inclination or patience to cook in their apartment kitchens.  Who can blame them, with all the fabulous restaurants (and abundant takeout) in our city? It all sounds easy, except for a few problems. The biggest issue is that eating out in NYC, and taking in, gets very expensive, very quickly. (Although Zagat estimates $40 per plate, others believe it's really higher.)

But when I come to your apartment (for $50/hour), I can make you lots of meals in just 2 to 3 hours. And in only 3 to 4 hours, I can easily prepare dinners for four for the entire week, and leftovers for lunch (bring it to the office and save even more).

cost

The bottom line is that if you're relying on restaurants and takeout for even a meal or two per week, you will save money. You also decide how much you want to pay for food (NY Strip or ground turkey? Organic or conventional produce?).

Second, unlike restaurants, when I prepare your meals you'll know exactly what you're eating. You can be pretty sure that restaurants won't be cooking your meal with extra virgin olive oil. And if you suffer from allergies or have dietary restrictions, you're already aware how hard ordering at a restaurant can be. Even a conscientious restaurant chef is unlikely to remove the butter remnants from his pan when making your dairy-restricted dish. With a personal chef, you get exactly what you want.

Third, my meals are healthier than anything you'll get from a restaurant. In a busy kitchen, many pots and pans are slathered with butter for flavor. And even though restaurant portions keep getting larger (NY Times), people tend to eat everything on their plate (or everything in the container) instead of controlling their portions. I work with you to figure out the most flavorful meals in the healthiest ways.

Finally, when I cook in your kitchen, you never have to worry about cleanliness. Have you looked at how many health code violations your favorite local restaurants have gotten?

Party ideas

Do you need a new, hands on idea for a party?  Make it a cooking party for the bride or groom to be.  How about teaching a mother-to-be how to cook?  It’s also the answer to a mom’s or dad’s night out.  You and your friends can add to your repertoire of meals while having fun, learning and eating!

Cooking classes for kids

How about having the kids pitch in?  You can have your kid and several of her friends gather around the stove one afternoon a week to learn how to peel, cut and braise their way to dinner.  The obvious benefit for you is coming home to a freshly cooked dinner. For the kids? They get pride in knowing they made it!  Think how grateful your future son- or daughter-in-law will be if your kids learn how to cook now?

Your dinner party - At ease

Many clients dream of hosting a dinner party but dread washing all the glasses.  We work together to develop a perfect menu for you and your friends.  Then, as a team, we serve and clean up with ease and grace.

Avoid holiday stress

Others need some help with a large holiday meal.  How do I make soup to nuts without going nuts?  I can help by making part of the meal, and you can still include your family favorites and traditional foods.
